Summary of Mechanical Shift Technician role

Sterling Pharma Solutions currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Shift Technician to join their Maintenance Engineering team at their site in Cramlington, Northumberland.

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance work onsite and providing first-hand technical diagnosis and correction of maintenance problems to maintain the site assets and site in a safe and efficient operational condition whilst complying with all HSE requirements and working in compliance with cGMP standards on a COMAH site.

The role is a shift role to support our 24/7 operation and will involve working a 12 hour shift pattern of days and nights.

  • Diagnosing and carrying out mechanical repairs, modifications, plant upgrades and installation.
  • Carrying out maintenance on Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Problem solving and carrying out diagnostic checks on mechanical and process equipment recommending changes and improvements to the operational systems.
  • Carrying out electrical isolations and restorations of medium and low voltage electrical equipment.
  • Conducting inspections and carrying out preventative maintenance activity.
  • Completing small projects as defined by the Area Engineer.
  • Accepting and handing back PTWs.
  • Communicating, liaising and co-ordinating work activities with contractors, suppliers and service providers.

Requirements for the role
  • Recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or multi-skilled discipline.
  • Previous mechanical maintenance experience, ideally within the chemical or other highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of DEAR and AETX.
  • Have an awareness of the maintenance requirement of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a self-managed team.
