We have a responsibility to work with, and for, a variety of communities including those that are local to our operations, the regional economies we contribute to, the wider pharmaceutical industry and the supply chains we support. Working in partnership with our industry peers, academic institutions and government bodies ensures we contribute to the future of the industry, ensuring challenges are tackled as a whole, new ways of working are adopted and patients have access to the healthcare they require.

We are working with a number of global organisations to learn about, develop and deliver real change. These include:
Ecovadis is an independent sustainability ratings network, which evaluates company’s sustainability management systems through policies, actions and results. Following successful achievement of gold for our global network in 2022, we are in the process of assessing each site individually.
The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is a voluntary initiative for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices. As a member of the UNGC we are committed to aligning strategies and operations with its universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and taking action to help advance societal goals.
The Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI) is a group of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies who share a vision of excellence in safety, environmental, and social outcomes in the communities where we buy. Sterling is an active member of PSCI working topic teams with other pharmaceutical organisations who share our values.
“Sustainability is part of our business strategy and our culture; guiding decisions and investment, and part of everyday conversations.
We measure our impact not just on the environment, but on employees, the communities we work within and the industry we support. We aim to be a sustainable business now, and in the future, for the good of all our stakeholders, not least, those we make lifesaving drugs for.
” Brian Peutherer | Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety
