Summary of the Production Support Chemist role
As the Production Support Chemist you will provide technical support to ensure the smooth introduction of new processes and supporting product manufacture. Communication is a key aspect of this role, as you will be required to liaise with various departments regularly and participate in audits on processes and equipment where necessary.
This is a shift-based role, working a rotational shift pattern of 12-hour days and nights, supporting our 24/7 production operations and will be based at our site in Cramlington, Northumberland.

As the Production Support Chemist you will provide technical support to ensure the smooth introduction of new processes and supporting product manufacture. Communication is a key aspect of this role, as you will be required to liaise with various departments regularly and participate in audits on processes and equipment where necessary.
This is a shift-based role, working a rotational shift pattern of 12-hour days and nights, supporting our 24/7 production operations and will be based at our site in Cramlington, Northumberland.
Your responsibilities
- Communicating with the process owners internally to provide key updates on a regular basis.
- Providing technical support to the shift Operations teams for the processes running in the manufacturing plants, with particularly emphasis on the successful introduction of new process stages.
- Supporting investigations into processing issues (e.g. atypical in-process results, reduced yields, cleanout issues) as soon as a problem is identified and working with existing project teams to resolve issues.
- Accompanying customers during site visits for plant observation.
- Familiarising yourself and maintaining knowledge of the processes in routine production.
- Supporting identification and implementation of process improvement and waste minimisation projects.
- Supporting the review of cleanout and commissioning performance to minimise time and waste generation with timely communication of issues to the relevant process owners.
- Undertaking laboratory work outside standard daytime working hours to support R&D and kilo laboratory programmes.
- Implementing and maintaining KPIs.
- Supporting problem solving sessions and campaign close out meetings where required.
- Raising temporary instructions as required and providing technical support to PRS Observation close out.

Requirements for the role
- Must have a degree in Chemistry or related subject.
- Previous manufacturing experience would be highly desirable.
- An understanding of cGMP and EHS compliance would be preferred.
- Computer literate in Word and Excel, ideally with knowledge of SAP.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Good problem solving and planning skills with a keen eye for detail.
