Summary of vacancy
 
Reporting to the Senior Controlled Drugs and Logistics Specialist, the Logistics Controller will ensure the on-time despatch of the customer orders and samples from site.  Responsible for the safe and compliant operation of the designated finished product warehouse area on site.  Involved in managing and controlling all inventories within the warehouse area.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements including safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct HSE audits as required and ensure consider all risk events (CARE) forms are raised
  • Assist the Logistics Manager with risk assessments for workplace activities within designated office and warehouse area
  • Actively work to improve HSE performance in Warehouse areas
  • Fully aware of all potential hazards in their area and the associated control procedures
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • As a SAP user the job holder will be required to carry out assigned SAP transactions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Process Customer Orders in accordance with procedures to ensure on-time delivery
  • Manage designated warehouse areas in accordance with written procedures
  • Assist with the management of inventory to ensure high levels of stock accuracy, supporting the programme of inventory cycle counts and full stock checks in the warehouse storage areas
  • Identify and label designated material for despatch in accordance with written procedures and to full (current good manufacturing practise (cGMP) requirements
  • Identify and organise transportation for samples and other material transfers
  • The generation of commercial invoices associated with all final products physically despatched from Sterling
  • The generation of commercial invoices for final products which are to be ‘invoiced on release’ and held in customer owned stock
  • Support the resolution of customer complaints
  • Shipment of documentation and shipping of smaller customer samples
  • Provide admin support for all final product and intermediate sales and despatch activities.
  • Management of Logistics suppliers’ invoices and logging to ensure timely payment
  • Work with all relevant third parties to ensure a co-ordinate approach to customer deliveries
  • Engage in all stock counts and audits of inventory including the yearly stock counting programme (cycle counts) for all warehouse areas.
  • Conduct regular checks of available storage locations to ensure accuracy.
  • Must be financially aware of stock control.

Key Skills and Competencies
 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment preferably gained within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
  • Experience of electronic MRP/ERP systems
  • Ideally, dangerous goods by air and or road certificate
  • Forklift truck licence essential
  • Attention to detail in documentation and compliance
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Manage competing work priorities and tasks efficiently and effectively to meet challenging deadlines on despatch
  • Aware of all health and safety arrangements relating to warehouse operations and the storage and transportation of goods
  • Knowledge of cGMP issues particularly in relation to the storage and release of finished goods to customers
  • Understands the need for documentation and ensures adequate procedures are in place, current and well organised
  • Up to date knowledge of transport of goods and all relevant legislation, applied on behalf of the company with reference to distribution of hazardous goods and controlled substances
  • Thorough understanding of relevant SAP modules (WM and IM)
  • Excellent communication skills
We also require candidates to be competent with IT systems, and in particular Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
